Copacabana and Isla del Sol

After a very tranquil  3,5 hours journey and an easy crossing of the border to Bolivia we eventually arrived at Copacobana a small city at the lake Titicaca.

Accommodation

As usual we wandered around a little to find a cheap place to stay. Up the Main Street we found a decent hostel at just 50Bs for a double bedroom. Unfortunately wifi has not been working but that you might expect in a hostel that cheap.

Some pricing and lets start the Bolivian adventure with Isla del Sol

The prices for dinner were equally cheap a dinner menu including soup, main dish and a juice cost as little as 8 Bs.
For the next day we planned our first tour to isla del sol. The price for the full day tour is as little as 35 Bs and the half day tour is at 30. You can book the tour in one of the several agencies in copacobana.

So next day we got up at 7 o’clock to start our tour at 8 just to figure out that it was pouring rain as me and my friend are both not the biggest fans of heavy rain especially when it looks like we have to walk through an entire day we decided to get breakfast and go back to sleep.
When we woke up again at around 11 the weather had cleared up and the sun was shining so we decided to still go for the half day tour at 12:30. We still had some time left so we climbed up the mirador to enjoy the stunning view over copacobana and the titicaca lake.
Back at the port we took the boat to isla del isla which took around 1,5 hour to reach the island. The island is pretty touristy but still it doesn’t take any of its beauty away. On the island you have to pay another 5 soles entrance fee but aftetwards you can simply discover the island by yourself or get a guide to lead you around. Unfortunately the time on the island at the half day tour is way to short one has just about 1,5 hours on the island hence I definitely recommend the fl day tour or even sleep a night on the island. I heard accommodation is quite cheap. We regretted a little not to have stayed there or at least spend our entire day there. Well so we were heading back to copacobana way too soon.

As we intended to take everything very slow we did not plan any further tours for now and planned to continue our journey from Copacabana to La Paz
