Studying Spanish in Bogotá
With 330 Million native speakers and a total of 420 Million people speaking Spanish, Spanish is the 4th most spoken language in the world. But apart from the fact that Spanish is internationally a very important language, I think it is also one of the most beautiful languages in the world. Especially beautiful and particularily easy to understand is the Colombian Spanish.
Ok we leave the accent of the Costeños (the inhabitants of the coast) aside because when you find yourself on the Colombian coast in Chocó, La Guajira, Magdalena or the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta , the accent is very different from the one in Bogota or Medellin and it is not really easy for me to understand the people there.
So maybe instead of improving your Spanish at home you should consider going to Colombia in order to practice your language skills? Maybe you just want to learn some basics for your next backpacking trip in South America or you want to become more fluent, in any case you should consider improving your knowledge in Bogota the capital of Colombia. For some time already more and more tourists are coming to Colombia what also results in more Spanish classes being offered. Learn More Than Spanish – is a little school in Carrera 9A # 61-51 offering groupl classes of maxium 2 participants private classes and a A La Carte course where you can choose the time of the classes yourself, what makes it extremely interesting for people that work or study. Besides the regular Beginner and Advanced courses also Business Spanish classes are being offered.

Nueva Lengua – has branches Bogotá, Cartagena and Medellin. The nice thing about this school is, that you can combine learning Spanish with dance classes and volunteer work. There are standard courses that go from 9.00am to 12.00am Monday till Friday and intensive courses that start already at 8.00 o`clock in the morning. Course discounts are available from the 4week onwards. One week of standard classes consits of 15 hours of classes + 2 hours of group exercises an 5 hours cultural activity.

Spanish World Institute – also hat another school in Cartagena. The school in Carrera 4A No 56 – 56 in Bogota offers group classes for 2-8 people. The level of the courses go from A1 to C1. The courses consist of either 15,20 or 30 hours per week. Private classes are also offered.
